This is the Taff, from the handsome riverside walkway that runs beneath the Holiday Inn and alongside the Millennium Stadium in city centre Cardiff. When George Borrow wrote in the 1850s the Taff (he wrote 'Taf') was 'one of the most beautiful of rivers', and still, before it debouches, running through the aspirational building site of the late Blair years into the Bristol Channel, it brings a touch of serenity at any rate into the very heart of this busy city.
