Club Foyer>Rainwear Vignettes>John's Armless Fun
It was Christmas Eve, and Anna and her husband were going to the midnight service. The day before Anna had visited Gamage's in High Holborn and invested in a beautiful olive green Alligator raincape with a yoked back. She was looking forward to a chance to wear it. As the evening progressed, the rain poured down though otherwise it was mild for the time of year.
At 10.45pm, they got ready. Anna was in a smart grey suit and James in a tweed suit. David donned his Burberry and dropped Anna's cape onto her shoulders, which was soon buttoned and hooded. They arrived at the church with many admiring glances in Anna's direction as she shed her cape, revealing her smart suit. The service started and ran its course, with plenty of carols. At last the service ended and they moved down the church. Anna flashed James a smile as he dropped her cape onto her shoulders. She was able to thread her arms through the slits and do up the buttons as they walked towards the door. Friends came up and Happy Christmases were exchanged. Her best friend, Jean, told her that her cape was beautiful and would like a similar one. On stepping outside, the rain had stopped so Anna kept the hood down but withdrew her arms. At last, home was reached and both toasted Christmas with a whiskymac before Anna had time to unbutton her cape. Having downed it they fell into each other's arms and kissed so passionately that when they paused, her cape was still done up. They carried on and James soon opened her up, after which, cape discarded, it was sofa - then bed.
Next day was sunny and they walked across to her sister's for Christmas Dinner. Anna just had to wear her cape again and her sister was amazed at how many parcels she concealed under it. Sonya, too, thought her cape super and couldn't resist trying it on which resulted in her visiting Gamage's when Christmas was over. Both sisters liked to go shopping and people in the village soon got used to seeing the two girls in their capes, Sonya chose a maroon one, on wet and fine days.
