The Further Life of June

When we last saw her she was on her way home from Alison's, resplendent in her new navy blue cape, travelling back to Watford. She felt it was a profitable weekend and capes were for her. She couldn't wait to show it off!

Next day it was back to work at the local Ministry of Transport where she processed driving test applications. The weather had changed and a steady rain was falling. She was happy to give her cape a road test and was soon buttoned and hooded.

On arrival there were looks of admiration as she undid her cape and hung it up. A few of her girl friends asked her where she got it. The day passed happily and soon the clock showed it was ceasework time. She looked out of the window and the rain had stopped and it had become a mellow evening. Nevertheless, she put on her cape, buttoning it through but leaving the hood down, telling Lou her friend it looked neater buttoned and she liked to withdraw her arms.

She walked happily back to her flat to prepare for the evening. She was going with Gus to see 'The Guns of Navarone' at the Odeon. She was soon resplendent in a cream dress, awaiting Gus. He watched with interest as she flung on her cape and did up the buttons. A short walk and they were there, minutes later finding their seats. Gus had the honour of having June's cape on his lap for the performance. Sitting hand in hand,  they both enjoyed it very much.

Then it was over and Gus helped June on with her cape with her giving him a smile as she did up the buttons before a visit to the Crown for a snifter. As it was standing room only June kept her cape buttoned. Then it was back to June's flat where Gus hugged her tight and her arms locked round him and they 'were in heaven'. The best moment for June when the buttons were undone which was no mean feat on the sofa. Her cape abandoned they whiled the night away!
