Sonia had been looking online for a new mac. At last she spotted the Babu 'blue line' cape at a bargain price, so she sent for it.
She lived in the West Country, near Tiverton which had plenty of rainfall. Her husband, Steve, was a solicitor in the town and she worked part-time in the Bursar's office of Blundell's School, which was in walking distance.
When the cape arrived Steve was at work and she was preparing to walk to the school. The autumn term was getting under way and the sky was overcast. Within minutes of taking it out of its box she had put it on over her grey suit and was doing up the buttons. She slid her handbag inside and was on her way. Half way there, the heavens opened and she pulled up the hood. She completed her walk in a heavy shower.
As she stepped into the office the bursar, a retired major, looked up from his desk and remarked that, except for the colour, it reminded him of the monsoon capes worn by soldiers in the Far East - but she was a lot better-looking than they were! She was glad to hang it up and find herself bone dry.
The day progressed and soon she was dealing with correspondence and handling queries. At last it was 3pm and time for home. The rain had stopped, the sun was shining and there was a rugger match in progress on the field. She decided to watch it for a while and slipped on her cape to keep the chill out. Whilst on the touchline several people came to speak to her and tell her how nice she looked.
It ended at 4.00 pm and she walked home to prepare tea. As she came through the door, her husband was there to greet her, telling her how super she looked and kissing her. Soon her arms were around him and they were 'in heaven'. She loved it when he 'opened her up'. They were going out to dine with friends so time to smarten up.
Some time later, they were on their way and Sonia had slipped on her cape over her cocktail dress. It was a lovely evening with good food and good company. About 11.30 pm they set off home. Sonia snuggled in her cape on the bucket seat of the MGB. Soon they were home for a nightcap and for Steve to 'undo her'.
The end of a perfect day.....
John
