racing commentary...classic beige trenchcoat worn by a full-figured woman
in her prime in the early eighties who filled every inch of her trench.
Thelma was also very fond of sporting an umbrella as I recall. Later in
her TV career on "Live At Three" she frequently wore lace-up,
knee-high black boots... but never with her trench! |

To Toe".... during the late eighties the maturing Barbara seemed
to corner the world stocks of leather gloves and biker jackets BUT in
a handful of shows she wore a selection of loose fitting, unbelted, ankle-length
macs over her boots and jodpurs. |

| Olivia Tracey on "The
Late Late Show".... anyone who saw Ms. Tracey's appearance on The
Irish Fashion Awards (app.1984) will surely never forget her. A full-length,
classic cut, trench-style, black, PVC wet-look mac majestically adorning
Olivia and dancing at her merest suggestion as if rainwear had been invented
solely for her. A true classic! |

to retrieve her phone messages. Herself and her raincoat are soaking wet
but she looks divine in her featureless PVC (?) mac. |

| TV ad for "Lunn's
" jewellers, Belfast; UTV 1983-84.. shown around Christmas time,
this ad revolved around an elegant, black-haired young woman. A classic
off-cream Burberry gave this ad classic status as the lady stepped out
of her man's car in her trench, bent back into the car to speak to him,
went window shopping wearing her trenchcoat and finally choose her gift.

| Judith Chambers, "Wish
You Were Here?" 1983.... Judith stood there in her pure white trenchcoat
in the miserable rain encouraging you to visit "wet" Scarborough
on your holidays. Her hands deep in her pockets and her mac buttoned up
she was indebted to her trench but I don't think she wore that raincoat
on TV again. |

In one episode "Mrs. Perkins" wears a classic beige trenchcoat
which the camera captures in all its uninhibited glory. In another episode
Sue Nicholls (Ms.Popoff) wears a darker, less classical mac as does "Mrs.

in 1984. Both ladies wore their trenchcoats the way they had been intended

The Wedding Party; Polly wears her trenchcoat for a brief scene at the
front desk. In the episode with the conman Lord Melberry; Polly wears
the same raincoat in two longer scenes. |

Those of us who adore the sight of a female looking as though she would
be handicapped without her trenchcoat must surely reckon old Pauline Fowler,
alias Wendy Richards, as an unforgettable sight. When she pulled on her
trenchcoat she simply demanded your attention. Loose and tossed, old and
worn, her trenchcoat seems unimportant to her and that's what was so attractive
about her. |

into an apartment and then wrestles with Peter Seller's Chinese sidekick.

I know but .... A middle-aged woman with long curly auburn hair in a long,
shapeless, grey raincoat spends a lot of the film travelling (always in
her mac) during which she narrates much of the film. (Approx. 1982) |

a detective in a porn film who wears her Burberry-type trenchcoat throughout
the movie. She is dealt with at one point while still wearing her trench,
while at another, her heavenly bosom is bursting to escape from beneath
her fully buttoned mac and is freed by another lady. |

Pussy Malone.... Detective Pussy sets about solving her crimes always
dressed in a light blue trenchcoat. She might not be everyone's cup of
tea but she is often seen with trenchcoat and body in tandem. Definitely
