Dress for dreaming inDear Lorraine I married a man from the Yeman. He was a dream. But like some other people who have written to you he insisted on me covering up. No part of my body may be seen by other men. Nor must I talk to other men. On our honeymoon in an hotel in Dubai he introduced me to my new clothes helped by his mother. I would not wear muslim dress as I am not a muslim and will not convert. I must wear a black hooded tee shirt, black cotten slacks and black cotton gloves - even in the house. The tee shirt is worn back to front with the hood up over my face. I can see but not be seen. If visitors call I must wear thicker cotton track trousers and a hooded sweat shirt with the hood up so only black cotton shows where my face should be. These sweat shirts are expensive American brands grey in colour. When we were to come back to England to visit my family, I was given a Spiewak coat to wear over a hooded tee shirt and sweatshirt. It is black, baggy and touches my shoes. It has a snorkel hood, like a parka, that gives you a view of the world down a six inch tube. It has a double zip the length of the coat at the front covered with a flap. It has belts at the hem and waist. It was made out of a rubberised cotton material. With the hood up it has a very strong rubbery scent. When I first wore it it was terribly exciting for both of us, and this effect has stayed with me. I get excited whenever I have to wear it.. So I'm excited all the time, as I have to wear the coat everytime I leave the house. The sleeves of the coat are long enough to cover my hands and have zips that can zip up over the openings. The cuffs have leather straps that hold the wrists. To make my rubbery prison complete there is a flap in the coat's snorkel hood that can be closed to cut out sight and light. Mother-in-law closes this as soon as I have sat down or do not need to see. I travelled like this on the plane to London and from the airport to my husband's family house in London. Why do I put up with this? I love my husband and the pleasure he gives
me. Soraya
