An advertisement for Swallow Raincoats from an October 1951 edition of 'Illustrated' magazine.

They specialised in gabardine raincoats for men and women, which were available 'from shops and stores throughout the country'. I don't think they were around at the end of the 1950's.

Note the typical cut of the hood for that period.
