Founded 1833 by David Moseley who was perhaps formerly a proofer in Charles Mackintosh's factory (See Anon, p.1ff, according to Levitt p. 53) "Moseley first worked in a single room in Chorlton-on_Medlock, but in 1845 moved to Chapelfield works, Ardwick. Continued expansion was to make this firm one of the three largest North West rubber manufacturers in the twentieth century." (Levitt, p.53)

David Moseley and Sons Ltd ('manufacturers of industrial rubber and plastics products') continued production at the Ardwick works until acquired by the Avon Rubber Company Ltd in 1964 (Avon) and closed in the early 1970s (Levitt, p. 53).

Levitt in 1986 says that "the name is now used by a firm set up by redundant employees whose premises are next to Piccadilly Station [Manchester] ". (Levitt, p. 53.)
