mackintosh cape

This lovely young woman with her arms hanging down through the slits of her cape reminds me of someone I saw on a rainy day near Reading station in 1953, when I was on my way back to boarding school after the Coronation weekend.

I had just got off the '28' bus when this dark haired young woman wearing a lovely blue mackintosh cape and wielding a colourful umbrella suddenly crossed the road. Her arms were encased in tweed so was probably wearing a business suit.

I was an inexperienced teenager but appreciated the smile she flashed at me.
