I have admired your website for many monsoons and always look forward to the first day of the month. You may recall my purchase recently of a fine Sandringham mackintosh and s/w. However the enclosures are for consideration if worthy for adding to your website - when time prevails. 1. Rainwear Archives From Sears (USA) 1927 catalogue - their page 21 (of 1080) of raincoats. the word mackintosh not in the fine print, plenty of slickers? 2. Rainwear in films Italian film The Sign of Venus. With best wishes Colin. Dear Colin Lovely to have your note and feel appreciated! And your two contributions as well. I've put the film nomination up, and a small version of the ad. I'm afraid I've found it quite difficult to bring out legible print from the photocopy - I will keep trying! I can make it out myself quite easily, but I haven't benn able to find time to type it in. Interesting material! My understanding of 'slicker' is that it primarily refers to coats with the waterproof layer on the outside - ? Love to have more pics etc if you have them! - and sorry it has taken me so long. Best wishes Lorraine |

Dear Lorraine, Anton Hi Anton Thanks for the appreciation. Most pics are sent in by friends of the site without the detail you are looking for. And quite a few are conjured with PaintShopPro... If there was a particular one you were interested in I would be ahappy to say if I knew. Best wishes Lorraine
Dear Lorraine The first time I met my wife she was wearing her grey gaberdine school raincoat fastened up fully, worn with a slightly longer mac on top - the second one in red rubber, with all the buttons undone. Never did find out what happened to the red rubber one. Malcolm - Well, it must have fallen off! This isn't the main reason why you should always do up the buttons on a raincoat, but it is surely reason enough? LE |
