Re - Your 'Is it in the genes' Survey. Most definitely YES. My Father had it, my Brother has it and I definitely have it! If you feel that you could include this reply in your letters column and include your thoughts on the following - I would very grateful. Bearing in mind that, I am sure, most blessed/afflicted with these 'feelings' are not honest in public - What proportion of the of the Population are involved? Also - What is the male/female ratio? Hi Julian Thanks for your very interesting note. I have to say it runs sharply counter to the trend though... Most people who have responded are saying they don't really have any evidence of a genetic factor. A real let-down for me - from which your own experience gives me a lift! You ask about the proportion of enthusiasts. If we are talking rubberised materials I think the proportion of lucky people is really small and very tightly defined by age - a small number of people who are now about 60 or more. It's mostly the people who might have spent some time in those rubber gas-proof baby cradles they issued in the UK in the second world war. There are some exceptions to this but not many of us! I have to say very few women. About plastic I don't know, but the answer would be very different. Interesting questions! Best wishes LE
