Whilst we were discussing mackintosh skirts, Hilary Alexander writing in the Daily Telegraph of 25th September about Milan Fashion Week noted that the designer Miuccia Prada greeted guests at her press conference wearing 'a simple green sweater and white shirt, albeit allied to a light brown latex skirt.' (!)
Anyone wanting to see this garment can do so by logging on to www.telegraph.co.uk and following the directions: lifestyle - fashion - fashion videos - mfw: prada. Miuccia makes a brief appearance right at the end of the show. There is a fleeting glimpse of her skirt, the fabric of which appears to look exactly like the magical terra-cotta mack bed sheeting. Whilst this latex skirt looks (and even feels?) so beguiling, it probably lacks the innate mackiness of the way in which the real thing would have moved and sounded.
