I read with interest correspondance from Dave who found his pleasures from an old red ladies' rubber mackintosh and was particularly interested in obtaining an old rubber mack in order to relive his experience. What was most noteable is his reaction to the news that the mackintosh that had given him so much pleasure had been burnt.
This little detail has enormous erotic significance for many rubber mackintosh lovers. It crops up here and there with one site even offering to make videos of rubber mackintoshes being burnt and selling them to members. Exactly why the burning of a mackintosh should have such a stimulating effect would be interesting to investigate.
I recognise Dave's reaction having been through an even closer experience at about the age of twelve or fourteen. I have always associated black rubber macks and boots and waders with motorbikes as these were worn by so many motorcyclists and gave me pleasant sensations when I sat in a pushchair. It linked to my own mackintosh and the rest does not need explanation.
To enjoy my mackintosh world it was necessary to build a mock-up motorbike and then get astride wearing rubber boots and mackintosh and let my passions get the better of me.
I was eventually caught redhanded and the details are unimportant.
What is important was that my mackintosh was rudely taken away from me and burnt in the incinerator for garden rubbish at the end of the garden. I went almost frantic watching my mackintosh burn fiercely with thick black smoke and dark red flames from the burning rubber, to say nothing of the smell. It left me with a frenzied need for satisfaction which went on for weeks and which was not really achieved until I obtained another mackintosh left hanging in the school cloakroom.
So Dave and I are kindred spirits and I wonder just how many other mackintosh lovers have had this reaction from a 'close up and personal' experience of having mackintoshes burnt or hearing about them being burnt or destroyed in other ways.
Mack lover since childhood.
I didn't know about this, and it's very interesting.
There's a chemical in rubber that elicits in vulnerable people an allergic reaction.
Chemical responses to allergens generally involve a mechanism that echoes the mechanism which produces erection.
I think there is a link.
So the idea that chemicals released when rubber is burnt have an erotically stimulating effect on some people is really interesting ...
