Powerful and all-pervading

Dear Lorraine

A most interesting discussion about the scents and sounds of rubber.

I have found latex on the whole to be disappointing. Not much rustling or swishing and a pathetic scent when compared to mackintosh rubber.

Fifty years ago you dared not leave a mackintosh lying around openly (if you were intimately aware of its potency) because the scent was so powerful and all-pervading and because of the guilt feelings associated (in one's own mind) with the hatred? - love? of this sublime material.

My life has been full of the most wonderful 'mac' experiences that I often toy with the idea of writing my experiences in biographical form. Having a 'theatrical' background my experiences have been in turn amusing, dramatic, sensual and memorable.
