Innuendo IV
The last of the guests had left leaving Judith and Johnathan flopped out on the settee sharing the delights of the last few hours. "Several people remarked on our lovely open fire and wished they had one. I told them wherever we lived we always made sure there was an open fire but I didn't say why". Johnathan gave her a loving smile as his mind drifted back 25 years.
It was a bleak February afternoon and they were about to go out in their wet weather togs when the phone rang. Johnathan took the call in the hall while Judith waited in the sitting room. It was over ten minutes before he finished and when he went back he was overwhelmed by the distinctive aroma in the room.
He knew immediately what it was when he saw Judith standing akimbo facing the brightly burning log fire. Expecting her to be annoyed for being kept waiting he found her turning towards him and saying casually "Do you like it because I do?". Not knowing what she was referring to he stammered "It's a lovely fire, the smell is intoxicating and you look gorgeous in your........At this moment they realised their mutual affinity for something they had both dared not to mention before. Abandonment followed with a vow never ever to be without an open fire. Judith got off the settee and said to Johnathan "Put another log on the fire darling, there is something I need to get from upstairs and by the way did you ever look up that word 'nuzzle' in the Oxford dictionary?
