Cloudspotting

I have, as promised, purchased a Cloudspotter for the good Mrs Mac and she is rather pleased with it! It's heavier than it appears on their web page and the noises it makes as she walks in it are rather splendid. This isn't so much sussurrus as it is heavy thudding..... We need a new word..... "Skullthuddery" perhaps!!

The zip really is awkward too, in all the ways I predicted it might be. I've obviously been targeting jackets with tricky zips for a while now as I'm getting good at it.

We had a great piece of role reversal last night when dog walking. I have amongst my own collection a mac that I bought from (what is probably a rival of yours) Gekko rainwear. I happened to be near their shop by Kew Gardens a couple of years ago and invested in a rather nice traditional, full-length rubberised mac. Last night, I popped this on, with all the normal sussurrus - and then stood there helplessly. My wife buttoned me up - which was glorious, and then began fumbling with her Cloudspotter's zip... I gave her a whole 2 or 3 seconds to struggle before feeling the need to step in.....

"Come here.... For goodness sake!"

I think she enjoyed the attention almost as much as I do. I put her hood up, then got the zip done up and fastened all the chunky buttons, placing them neatly in their buttonholes.

Even the dog wagged his tail!

Whilst her zip is tricky to do up, it's easier if you are outside the coat looking in, than inside the coat and wearing it. Anyone would think it was designed for my particular little liking.

When the coat arrived I tried it on myself - with nobody watching I might add. I looked quite a sight at over 6 feet tall in a girlie coat, but I was keen to try the zip for myself. I genuinely struggled to do it up, even without sausage finger syndrome, which is how I now know that it is easier to fasten it for someone else than it is to do it yourself when wearing it.

So there's a new sideline for Lakeland Elements.... Make anoraks with zips that you can only do up from the outside.... I'd probably buy them all!!
