Bonzo etc

Like most rubberists, I suppose, I've spent most of my life trying to find the rubber I remember as a boy growing up in the early fifties. Those yummy red rubber bed undersheets! We had them on our beds at home and boarding school, and I used to slip under the cotton top sheet to lie directly on the rubber. Our strict head matron at school always wore a similar long red rubber apron.

There was plenty of spanking and caning going on in those days, too. I've tried stuff from various shops and hate the chocolate-smelling latex! I've tried the Malayan rubber too, close but no cigar. The Black Diamond stuff was nearly there, also. Maybe this time I've finally found what I've been looking for!

If it is I shall most likely use it for a kind of suit - to recreate a very special suit that I was made to wear as a young boy. When I was about eight - in the mid fifties - I used to holiday with my widowed Aunt and her teenage daughter in Brighton.

I would be dressed for the day in a heavy red rubber frilled one-piece suit, complete with frilly rubber bonnet and lace-up knee boots.

It had large tightly tied bows at the collar, cuffs and ankles. I was naked beneath these 'rubbers' so as to "fully benefit from the healthy rubber vapours" Aunt would say.

I would soon be entering a rubber-induced trance due to the vapours enveloping me as I sweated profusely in the suit. I would be very briskly marched along by my Aunt and proudly shown off by her and her daughter as a boy 'suitably attired' for the seaside.

The suit would often be kept on until late in the evening and I would often be caned by Aunt and her daughter. A punishment I well recall was prompted by a little 'accident'. I remember wishing to urinate but was told I would have to wait until our return home. But that is another story.

I have Aunt and her daughter to thank for my deep rooted rubber fetish, I guess.

My current rubber collection includes:-

2 heavy Dutch rubber NBC suits.
2 pairs of Weathervain SBR bloomers,
Black Diamond jacket and bib and brace trousers.
Hoxteth heavy rubber harness.
Rubber gloves.

I had a complete Malay collection but sold it on.

I also have a complete pink satin sissy collection for my Sissy JJ character.

Years of research has found some evidence of such 'rubber discipline' taking place at the turn of the century.

What you say is very interesting indeed.

I have read about the wearing of rubber as everyday ordinary wear stigmatised as 'unhygienic', but hadn't come across the reversee view you refer to here, that rubber vapours are 'beneficial'... Is there anything I can read on this?

Dear Lorraine,

From what I have learned over the years, the Victorians were to soon discover that this natural rubber would release a chemical which was a powerful aphrodisiac. This would occur at a certain temperature, when bodily sweating would commence. This has subsequently been proven, a chemical called BONZO? (I think!?).

Have you heard of this?

Hi, yes the great John Bonham! There is a member of The International Association Of Rubberists who's avatar is the chemical formula for BONZO or BOZO, whatever it is. I shall try and find it for you.

I have certain references to Victorian 'rubber discipline' involving some extraordinary male chastity devices worn beneath rubber. They were famous for preventing boys commencing masturbation, and rubber regularly played a role in this it appears.

- Ah! think this is what I was looking for:- polyisoprene, natural rubber. I couldn't find the bonzo(?) reference!
