Doctoring a few items
Dear Lorraine,
I have read Alice's letter about locking on her coat, and her ideas are brilliant. It hasn't rained here for a little while, but I have managed to doctor a few items for when it does. I now have a cagoule which can be locked with rings on the zip and hood cords, and a plastic mac which can have the hood cords crossed under the chin, then the ends taken behind the back of the neck to be locked there. My cape also has the hood cords set for locking, so when I wear it to go to the shops I will not be able to take it off - which could be quite warm in Tesco's! My husband's trench coat has been a bit more tricky, but I have removed the top button, and sewn it back on with a ring underneath, with another one attached to it, and when the rings go through the buttonhole with the button, there is another ring which I have sewn into the coat under the storm flap, to lock it up. When the weather is suitable, I will try it out on him, and if it works I will do mine the same way. So far we haven't tried out the locking devices, but the weather forecast for the next couple of days is for rain, so I think tomorrow (Saturday) might be a good time to experiment.
Best wishes, and thanks to Alice!
Judith
