Pleasant memories of cold and rainy days

Dear Lorraine,

I have been reading some of the letters on your web site. They bring back many pleasant memories of rainy and cold days past.

Since the Global Warming experts announced that English summers would be hot and dry we have had two of the wetest and most enjoyable summers ever. So-called experts often don't have a clue what they're on about. We can look forward to many more years of rain and cold.

Caught a local electric train to Wilmslow the other day. I was fully snorkelled up a Schott jacket with both hoods up. It was a freezing day, in the coach I was in there must have been twenty people, both sexes and various ages represented. Every person in that coach was wearing a parka, jacket or hoodie with the hood up! This is a record in my experience. In recent years though far more hoods are being worn particularly by younger people and worn all year round even on warm sunny days.

Why wear a hood? Why not? People wear them because they enjoy it. Or they wear tem to hide themselves in this country where we are increasingly spied on by a horrible authoritarian government and its police. And some people wear hoods because they are COLD!
