Dear Lorraine

I'm not sure I understand H's piece called 'Correction' but if he is talking about making people wear macs as a punishment I can tell him that yes it happens or at least used to. Our macs were single texture at school and we often were forbidden from taking them off if we made too much noise or answerred back. Wearing your mac all the time made you really hot and itchy and if you were stupid or didn't know and you ran around in break it was ten times worse especially afterwards when you just had to sit in class feeling absolutely wet with nothing you could do about it.

I think some teachers punished us in that way just because it was easy and the standard alternative to setting lines, (which had to be collected and looked over).. But one teacher in particular knew what she was doing very clearly. She always made us button right up and pull our belts tight - and then made us do drill before sending us off to the morning's classes. The form captain would be given a note to show to each teacher that took us, saying compliments of Mrs Tricker but could we please be made to keep our macs on for the lesson.
