Compulsive fishtail parka disorder

From Carroline

Dear Lorraine

Help! I am suffering from compulsive fish tail parka disorder.

Since buying a green calf-length snorkel hooded fish tail parka in the January sales I have been suffering from a compulsion to wear it fully done up with the hood up all the time.

I just love it, it is so warm and cozy it makes me glow inside. I just don't want to undo it. I wear it in the house, in the shops and to and from work but can't wear it in the call centre wear I work.

Is this a disorder ? I don't think so. It's just a fashion. No body objects to Arabian women wearing veils, so why shouldn't I go Hooded? I love being warm and hidden.

My friends have got used to me and always recognise me, even when I'm totally concealed in the company of other parka hood wearers. I guess a person's walk and manner reveals who they are.

Previously I was into the usual street wear. A baggy GAP sweat shirt with a large hood which I always wore with a baseball cap underneath with a peak that covered my eyes. I also usually wore a scarf underneath the hood that covered my nose and mouth. I used to get a buzz from that, but now prefer the brilliant six inch snorkel on the parka.

Compulsive fishtail parka disorder, long may it last.
