Dear Lorraine,

What to wear today? Must take youngest to nursery school then catch bus out to University (of West of England). I have lecture then I m meeting Jane for lunch. I have to make a presentation on prison reform to Social Policy Group after two and get home for the kids.

Its cold and blowy outside with the sun trying to come out. I'm wearing jeans and tee shirt, I put on a black GAP hoody and do the hood up leaving my mouth showing so I can eat and drink with Jane in the pub. Put on black Bench coat, put hood up and put flap across lower half of face pull draw strings tight so only eyes showing.

Fully zipped up and with draw cords at waist and hem tightened still doesn't feel right.

Take hood off again put on scarf and wrap it twice round front of my face, once over mouth and nose and over forehead leaving eyes showing in narrow gap. Tie scarf tight behind neck. Put Bench hood back on.

Much better!

Push little one to nursery. Catch bus to University.

In pub at lunch time keep Bench coat hood up - only have to open flap and pull scarf down to pour red wine down throat.

Presentation great success thanks to wine!

Jane has only recently joined "The Hooded Ones" as we are known in Bristol. She had a lovely knee length snorkel parka red with thick padding and a deep snorkel hood.

When she undid her coat in the pub I was surprised to find she had no face! She was wearing a black hoody with a hood that totally enclosed the face. The thin thin material over the face meant she could see and not be seen. This was a Bench product as are many wonderful clothes.
