Gosford Park, Robert Altman, US, 2001	In the opening scenes, Kristin Scott-Thomas can be seen on a horse galloping towards the house. As a top coat, she is wearing a shortie riding mac. Ma femme est une Actrice, Vincent Attal , France, 2001	Featuring Attal's wife Charlotte Gainsbourg wearing a Burberry, it tells the story of a man jealous of his actress wife. The man was played by Attal himself. Also featured is the British screen legend Terence Stamp. Charlotte also wears his Burberry in a manifestation againsi Le Penn and the fn after the victory of Le Penn in the first stage of the"elections présidentielles" in France. Serge Gainsbourg (Charlotte's father) the French singer also wore trenchcoats, in 1979 he topped the charts with his reggae version of La Marseillaise. He had bought the original sheet music. In the auction room he was surrouded with men with ties and suit but he wore his Burberry belted over jeans - the "négligé" look, unshaven, a cigarette in his mouth, sunglasses. (André)

Catch me if you can, Steven Spielberg, USA, 2002	Stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken... The True Story of a boy, played by Dicaprio, who went on a check writing spree thru out the United States in the late 60's, while posing as an Airline Pilot, Doctor and a Lawyer before the age of 18... In the early part of the film, there is a brief scene of his mother, played by french actress Nathalie Bay, in a see-thru white polka dot raincoat, accented by a green scarf! Goldmember, US, 2002	In the beginning, you see Mike Myers character, Austin Powers, in a scene, dancing in the rain with raincoat clad male and female dancers (the coats are of different colors, and seem to be modeled after the coats Monica Vitti and her male counterpart were wearing in the 1966 film "Modesty Blaise") ...shiny slickers with sou'westers. The Secretary, Steven Shainberg, US, 2002	Star Maggie Gyllenhaal applies for a position as secretary at a law office. It turns out that her boss (James Spader) likes to give his secretaries a thorough spanking - and it also turns out that his new secretary likes it (to say the least!). For that reason alone the film is worth seeing, but also for the fact that Maggie Gyllenhaal, when applying for the position, enters the office wearing a purple rubber cape [For the purist: polyurethane or the like I'm sure - ed] which she keeps on for the entire scene (a couple of minutes). La bande du drugstore, François Armanet, France, 2002	In this film about teenagers of the sixties, the very sensitive Cécile Cassel is wearing, in the scene happening in the bookstore (with Jacques Lanzman), a very shiny ochred yellow vinyl raincoat with a typical sixties zip. (Cire Noir)
Kill Bill Volume I, Quentin Tarantino, US, 2003	Stars Uma Thurman, Lucy Lui, David Carridine and Daryl Hannah, among others. Early in the movie, Uma Thurman's character is in a coma after an attempt on her life, Daryl Hannah's character, Elle Driver, is entering the hospital on a rainy night to do away with her, and she is sporting what looks like a designer beige-yellow raincoat (Prada?), along with yellow galoshes and an umbrella. Anger Management, Peter Segal, US, 2003	Reserved Adam Sandler is ordered to attend anger management classes following a misunderstanding aboard an airplane, Jack Nicholson stars as his overbearing counselor.. Somewhere towards the end, there is a scene where adam meets two of his session mates for dinner, played by Krista Allen and January Jones, respectively wearing black and red shiny pvc trenchcoats, looking drop dead gorgeous!!! I Capture the Castle, Tim Fywell, 2003, UK	Bill Nighy's expressive face makes a fine thing of this interesting film, but it is Tara FitzGerald's body, in a black oilskinny thing one minute and nothing at all the next, that makes the more immediate impact. Agents Secrets, Frédéric Schoendoerffer, France/Italy/Spain, 2004. aka Spy Bound Agentes secretos Secret Agents	A couple of secrets agent are played by Vincent Cassel & Monica Belluci). Their mission : sink a boat in Noth-Africa. Back in Europe, in the airport, Monica Belluci wears a classical white trenchcoat. Later, in the last scene of the movie, she wears her trenchcoat full buttoned up, belted and collar turned up. (Bernard)
A Different Loyalty, Marek Kanievska, Canada/UK/US, 2004	Sharon Stone wears a classic trenchcoat in several scenes. She plays the role of an American woman whose British husband disappears. No trace of him, but she gets harrassed by the CIA from then on, and later she is told that he actually is alive and well and living in Moscow ... since he is -- and always has been -- a spy for the Soviet Union (the story is set in the Sixties). Ma Vie à t'Attendre, Thierry Klifa, 2004, France	In several scenes Nathalie Baye wears a black burberry trench coat - like other beautiful French actresses Nathalie wears the trench coat very well. Comme t'y es est belle, Lisa Azuelos, UK/Luxembourg/France /Belgium, 2006	In this movie Valérie Benguigui, well known for the tv series Avocats et Associés, wears a classic Burberry trench coat - in the way of Charlotte Gainsbourg wears it, over jeans, whatever she is doing. She also wears it in the super market. In one scene her children want her to take off her coat and as she does so we can see the famous 'nova check'. (André)

Can anyone provide more information please on the following, where I haven't been able to check the details? (For a film we generally look for a date, director and country of origin - and of course an interesting (but not too interesting) comment.)

• I seem to remember years ago catching a late night (well just before the station closed down for the night) in black and white and probably shot in monochrome where a good time hitchiking girl wearing a satin mac(k)intosh was picked up in the pouring rain from the roadside by a lorry driver. I lost the thread of the rest of the story. Nothing surprising there you may think, but in my fevered memory the girl was played by Diana Dors and the lorry dricer by Sean Connery !! Or was/am I just dreaming?

  A long forgotten film starring Victor Mature and Diana Dors. Something about fur-smuggling. Diana doesn't need furs - she's got her trench coat! (Dave D) I'm wondering is this might be the film referred to in your query list, which perhaps got confused with 'Hell Drivers' from the same year, which does feature a young Sean Connery but no Diana Dors (and even worse, no macs!).   • A German film of 1952 starring the German actress and singer Hildegarde Knef wore a trench coat in this film it told the story of a truck driver who met a young"easy" girl on the road I have seen a picture of her in the Belgian newspaper "Le Soir" in trench coat in this movie, too bad I never saw this film because it is a little bit the same story as the French film "Des Gens Sans Imprtance", my old time favorite, and I know wiew the critics of the time there is a scene in a place called"Broadway Bar"wth jazz music, and the Belgium movie poster with the actress in trenchcoat. When Hildegarde Knef gived a show in the 80's she was photogaphed on the poster in a Burberry. (Andre)

  This is totally obscure I know but .... A middle-aged woman with long curly auburn hair in a long, shapeless, grey raincoat spends a lot of the film travelling (always in her mac) during which she narrates much of the film. (Approx. 1982)
  Well-endowed Wendy Whoppers plays a detective in a film who wears her Burberry-type trenchcoat throughout the movie. She is pleasured at one point while still wearing her trench, while at another, her heavenly bosom is bursting to escape from beneath her fully buttoned mac and is freed by another lady. (Hillary)
  
• The other day, I stumbled upon an old episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" not sure what year it was from, probably somewhere between '91 & '93.. this particular episode had the characters of Shannen Doherty, decked out in what looked like a blue rubberized satin raincoat, Jenny Garth's character in a White polyurethene trench, and Tori Spelling looking fabulous in a long, red shiny polyurethene trench, with her long blonde hair, she looked "dazzling" From what I could gather from the storyline, It was raining hard and the girls received word from a friend that the music group "Color me Badd" was in town, staying at a local Hotel, so, the three girls don there rainy day garb and are waiting amoungst the crowd for the group...   • In The Doom Generation (Trimark pictures, '90s, DVD from Virgin Megastore); the female lead wears a clear plastic raincoat in many scenes. This is a very violent movie - I do not recommend it.
  • In the '90s remake of Sabrina there is a Paris photo shoot featuring models in transparent plastic raincoats, posed in the middle of a fantastic water sculpture.
