Working for the BBC
Hi Lorraine
Nice to hear from you so soon.
With regard to the Polka dot fabics, I had two girl friends I grew up with back in the fiifties who both had polka dot macs. Mary who was the daughter of our local garage owner and who lived a couple of streets way and Christeen the daughter of my mothers solicitor. Mary had a green rain mac and Christine had a navy blue one.
Both girls were a bit naughty when it came to boys and both used their coats to great effect if you can guess what I mean. I dated both girls seperately over a number of months which is why I became attracted to polka dot macs. Christine became an actress with very few clothes on and was in one of Cliff Richard's films as a static nude model. Mary got pregnant after a long weekend party when her parents were away and married the son of a very well known Radio/TV and electricals company who she believed was the father of her son.
My interest in rubberised macs goes back to just after the war in 1948 when my mother purchased a red rubber backed satin raincoat. I found it fascinating and could not keep my hands off it, I just loved the soft feel of it and would often put it on when she was out of the house.
She caught me once and gave me a good spanking for playing with her best coat. I was probably only about ten years old at the time.
My next encounter was when I was at boarding school. In 1950 the head mistress used to wear a dark chocolate brown satin mac. She always wore it when punishing any of the boys I got into her bad books when I threw a snowball onto the roof of her house which turned into an avalanche which hit her on the back of her neck and knocked her to the ground. She caught me and gave me a sound thrashing for this. Again, she wore her brown raincoat.Over the next few years I met and dated a number of young ladies but only one had a rubberised raincoat - a gold A-line swing coat, very attractive.
Soon after this I started work with the BBC and met a very nice librarian who introduced me to her step mother. She turned out to be a very dominant lady, with strange cravings which she desired me to fulfil . Her husband, often away on business, would have nothing to do with them!
She would wear either a black SBR raincoat or black rubber-backed satin raincoat during the sessions she involved me in. . As a young man I found being with her exciting although often painful!
I continued to see women with this type of raincoat for the next few years but then these raincoats seemed to fall out of fashion. The next time I saw them was in 1997 in a shop in Exmouth where I purchased one for my wife. It was made by a company called Menzis Dixon. They came in various colours, black satin finish, blue, green red and yellow plus a silver and black dog-tooth design. About two years later I met a gentleman friend who was wearing a new SBR raincoat which he had purchased from a shop some where near Kew Gardens. As you would expect I was very envious.
I hope this helps!
Regards
Barry
PS the other day I met a lady in Tesco wearing a red cotton rubber- backed coat which she said she had purchased in London .
