I used to be an aircraft engineer before I retired, employed by a company at Gatwick, who were quite forward in their attitude to lady pilots.
A Maurice Attwood 'Gangster' mackintosh was worn by one of the lady first- officers as her uniform raincoat - the others all used the issue black gaberdine.
I looked forward to meeting the aircraft on wet days, just to catch a glimpse of the "Black Gangster".
