Dear Lorraine
A quick update for you. It seems as if you're being overtaken by hooded parka lovers all of a sudden judging by the most recent pile of letters you've published.
I still think there's nothing like a mac personally. I did the rounds of my local shopping centre this week and the parkas have practically all gone now, due to the Spring arriving no doubt. What was really exciting is that macs have well and truly taken their place for the new season. Just as the shops were full of parkas in November, December & January, they are now stocked with mackintoshes. Most of them are short versions rather than long for reasons that I don't know or understand. However, Gap, Next, House of Fraser, Dorothy Perkins & New Look all had some exciting mac merchandise to ponder.
My wife has bought a traditional beige version from Next. A single breasted coat - she looks gorgeous in it ! We went out last night which meant she gave it an induction soaking as it was raining heavily. Neither of us had an umbrella & we had to walk back from a pub to her car - about 5 minutes walk in all. This was enough to leave us both sodden. She let me into her car & drove us home - still wearing her mac. It might not be rubberized but it still has quite a fragrance when wet & in the confined space offered by an ageing Fiat 127 !
Back to the parkas. Sorry if I'm jumping about here. I had mine on and I managed to get the fur on the hood soaked. That has quite a fragrance too. In fact it reminded me of my youth when I had a similar coat and it used to generate the same smell. I didn't know what eroticism was then though of course.
For the record, my "friend" who stars in Murder In Suburbia failed to master her buttons last week too. How annoying. I'll have to watch again tomorrow.
Andy
